It was unexpected to find out that, contrary to common knowledge, this diverse microbial community is mostly comprised of beneficial microbes that are vital for plant health and survival. From that day on, I choose to be part of a growing scientific community that is advancing the understanding of the interaction between plants and microbes and how it could be employed to benefit the population. In my research, I look for strategies to manipulate the plant microbiome in order to sustainably increase crop production.
